A Working Lab
What is your business idea, and what problem are you aiming to solve?
– We aim to bridge the gap between academia, research, and the business world. We see significant challenges in transitioning from academia or research to starting one’s own company, especially in the field of Life Sciences. We not only want to provide a physical space in the form of offices and labs but also flexibility because we understand that things move quickly in the startup world. We also want to provide as much support as we can in various aspects, such as offering specific instrumentation, coordinating the disposal of hazardous waste, and lab coat laundry services, in addition to standard office amenities like printers, Wi-Fi, coffee, and fruit. Our goal is to allow companies to focus as much as possible on their brilliant ideas while we take care of the rest.
Where are you now?
– Currently, we have seven companies based with us. What’s still available with us are labs of various sizes. So, our current focus is on filling these labs and organizing more events and meetings here in Flemingsberg.
What are your plans for the future?
– Our plans for the future are currently cautious. We have found it more challenging than expected to fill the labs and attract companies to join Campus Flemingsberg. However, we’d like to expand and potentially take an additional floor in ANA10 if we see an increased need and interest in our services here. In the meantime, we want to build a strong Community among our members and with the rest of the campus, continuing to contribute to making Campus Flemingsberg an attractive place to establish one’s business.
Why are you in Flemingsberg?
– All of our labs in Solna were fully occupied from the beginning, with a long waiting list for lab space. We saw a significant need for expansion. When Karolinska Institutet (KI) was found to have underutilized space in Flemingsberg, we saw an opportunity to take over more labs to meet this demand. Additionally, we recognized the potential of this rapidly growing campus, with its proximity to the hospital, KI, Södertörn, and KTH, among others.
