South Korean Game Investors Visited Press Start Game Hub in Flemingsberg
A delegation of investors from some of South Korea’s leading game companies visited Press Start Game Hub in Flemingsberg yesterday, a growing hub for game innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. The visit was part of an initiative organized by Business Sweden, aimed at strengthening ties between the Swedish and South Korean gaming industries.
The delegation included representatives from the South Korean companies Neowiz and Drimage, as well as members of Business Sweden’s international investment team, represented by Johan Chun, Head of Industry, Per Jansson, Head of Digital Tech, and Jesper Renfors, Associate, Business Sweden Seoul.
In addition to Flemingsberg, the delegation visited the Sweden Game Conference in Skövde and Stockholm Game Town, as part of their tour of Sweden to explore new collaborations and investment opportunities in game development.
“Flemingsberg is becoming one of Europe’s most exciting gaming clusters. With a campus of more than 24,000 students from institutions such as KTH and Södertörn University, it offers a unique breeding ground for innovation and entrepreneurship. The fact that international players are now seeking partnerships here shows that we are on the right path, and that Swedish game development expertise remains strong on a global scale.”
– Johnny Högberg, CEO, Flemingsberg Science Foundation
Press Start — at the Heart of Swedish Game Innovation
During the visit to Flemingsberg, four game studios from the Stockholm region presented their ongoing projects to the investors — all connected to Press Start Game Hub and its support programs for game entrepreneurs:
- Koromi – Jacques Diringer, former developer at King and Blizzard, presents Koromi, a poetic action-adventure about a Bronze Age koala searching for its people’s origins.
- Glimeria Studios – Magnus Johansson, Co-Director of Helldivers 2 and former Lead Level Designer at Avalanche Studios, presents his new studio’s original IP project.
- OW Games – Didrik Wistedt, creator of Mythbreak, showcases a fast-paced 3-vs-1 arena brawler where players take on the roles of heroes or mythical bosses.
- Okto Technologies – Ole Martin Ølmheim presents DanceIt, a mobile game where your body is the controller, powered by proprietary real-time body-tracking technology.
Together, these creators represented the next wave of Swedish game innovation, where art, technology, and entrepreneurship come together under one roof in Flemingsberg.
“We’re very happy to see Press Start and Flemingsberg establishing themselves as an important hub for game development in Sweden. Our community of more than 400 members and over 12 academic institutions in the network clearly shows that Press Start is needed, and making a difference. All the studios presenting yesterday had completed our Boot Camp and coaching programs,” says Leslie Alfredsson, Cluster Developer at Press Start.
