Karolinska Institutet – a medical university
Karolinska Institutet is one of the world’s leading medical universities. Our vision is to make a decisive contribution to improving people’s health.
KI is responsible for the majority of medical academic research carried out in Sweden and offers the largest choice of medical courses. The research spans a wide field; from basic experimental research to patient-oriented research and care science. In several of the training courses, work-based training is included, which consists of clinical practice and on-site training in care.
KI educates doctoral students in medical science and is responsible for approximately twelve percent of the Swedish university’s postgraduate education.
Since 1901, the Nobel committee at Karolinska Institutet selects the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine
