Campus Flemingsberg is an attractive place for knowledge-intensive companies looking to locate close to colleges and a university hospital. AN INTEGRAL PART OF STOCKHOLM´S LIFE SCIENCE CLUSTER
Flemingsberg is part of Stockholm’s life sciences cluster. A cluster incorporating academic institutions, life sciences companies, and healthcare and medical agencies. Together, we conduct internationally prominent research projects. The Stockholm-Uppsala region is home to more than 550 life sciences companies, and the sector employs more than 23,000 people.

More than half of Sweden’s life sciences sector is based in and around Stockholm, and the region is one of the world’s most start-up rich. World renowned research institutes, Karolinska University Hospital, KTH and KI are also located here.

Flemingsberg also has a strong cluster of law enforcement agencies with policing, police training and a legal centre, all focused on training and research.
Södertörn district court is also located here, which began its history in Södertörn’s legal annals back in 1689. Today, Södertörn district court hears some 13,000 cases a year, making it one of Sweden’s busiest courts. Its catchment area includes Botkyrka, Haninge, Huddinge and Nynäshamn municipalities, and Söderort municipalities Brännkyrka, Enskede, Farsta, Hägersten, Skarpnäck, Skärholmen and Vantör. These areas has a combined population of some 630,000.
In January 2015, Södertörn University welcomed its first intake of some 170 trainee police officers. Today, around 1,000 police cadets are trained at Södertörn University. Being a police officer is complex and requires constant reskilling and updating of knowledge in many areas. Modern police training that hones relevant skills is necessary to meet these demands and challenges.
With Swedish police training conducted at a university, students enjoy access to many other courses, which in turn encourages integration and joint activities with other groups of students. Trainee police officers also have great opportunities to benefit from research in relevant fields while studying. Students are in a campus environment that incorporates a wide variety of people and proximity to everyday situations that police typically encounter: a hospital, a court, fellow police officers, schools and social services.
University College of Music Education in Stockholm (SMI) and art college Idun Lovén ensure that Flemingsberg grows as a cultural centre and hub for the creative arts
SMI offers a unique educational experience that provides a solid and formal pedagogical grounding in a variety of contexts, teaching styles and assignments based on independent learning didactics. Here, you can train to become an instrument teacher, a voice coach or a logonom.
Idun Lovén art college is owned and run by artists. Every member of teaching staff is an active, practicing artist. Teaching is characterized by tutors’ own concrete artistic knowledge and experiences. This guarantees close and continuous reference to current artistic trends. The college offers two two-year courses, one in sculpture and one in painting.
One of the proposals for the further development of Flemingsberg involves the construction of a 16,000-capacity arena, (Globen in Stockholm holds 13,850). It would primarily be a concert venue, but could also be used for conferences and sports such as hockey, basketball and handball, similar to Royal Arena in Copenhagen. This proposal remains on the drawing board and is currently at a very early stage of development with no formal decisions yet taken. If it does get the go-ahead, it would create opportunities to attract major cultural events to Flemingsberg.

Alfa Laval strengthens Flemingsberg – establishes itself in a growing city of the future
In May 2025, Alfa Laval moved into its new office and innovation center, spanning approximately 20,000 square meters, together with around 700 employees. At the same time, the restaurant K-märkt opened, further expanding the range of services available in Flemingsberg. The Royal Swedish Opera and Dramaten, Alfa Laval, Restaurant Billmans, and K-märkt all represent important pieces of the puzzle in the development of Flemingsberg.
En nationell resurs för morgondagens behandlingar – nu är Karolinska ATMP Centrum invigt
Med ett tydligt budskap om framtidstro och ett kraftfullt samarbete invigdes Karolinska ATMP Centrum i Flemingsberg i slutet av augusti.
