A place for knowledge, creativity and new ideas
Flemingsberg is one of the Stockholm region’s most exciting areas. Located just south of Stockholm City, with excellent transport links and set in beautiful countryside, you’ll find five colleges and universities, an art school and a high school specialising in life sciences, an emerging business cluster and even student housing. And everything is within walking distance.
Open university town
Campus Flemingsberg is an obvious and integrated part of the emerging city of Flemingsberg. Flemingsberg will be the Stockholm region’s only complete university town with proximity between studies, housing, service and culture.
Regional core becomes an urban university town
Around Flemingsberg station and the new travel center, Fabege is developing, among other things, Flemingsbergsdalen and the international business and research hub, Stockholm South Business District. Here, a center is being created that can attract as many as 50,000 workers, 50,000 residents and 50,000 visitors. Flemingsberg is thus one of the largest development projects in the country, with investments of SEK 60 billion. Flemingsberg is developing from a regional core to an urban university town.

Campus Flemingsberg is Sweden’s eighth largest campus with 27,000 students – here you can study everything from medicine and healthcare to economics, law, political science, technology, music, journalism and art. Campus Flemingsberg is also one of the places in the country where you can train to become a police officer.
One of Europe’s largest university hospitals
Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge is one of Europe’s largest university hospitals and, together with Karolinska Institutet, forms a medical center with a high international reputation. The proximity within the Campus area contributes to increased cooperation between the academies and the hospital with the aim of achieving synergies between healthcare, education, research and innovations.
A vibrant and multidisciplinary campus, which is unique with its mix of higher education, research, knowledge-intensive companies and healthcare.

From Science Week: Innovative arenas create collaboration for the city of the future
See the panel discussion on how innovative neutral arenas are central to the development of the smart and knowledge-intensive city. Flemingsberg Science CEO Johnny Högberg participates together with a panel consisting of Sophia Sundberg, CEO, Barkaby Science, Peter Dobers, Professor of Business Administration with a focus on sustainable development and collaboration, Södertörn University, Johan Zachrisson, Business Development Manager, Fabege and Anton Västberg, Development Director, Region Stockholm.
Test your business idea: Flemingsberg Science Award Startup open for applications
STARTUP is a competition for startups with a clear connection to Flemingsberg, either as students, residents or otherwise active in the area. All ideas are welcome to participate in STARTUP as long as you compete with your own idea and the turnover and external equity is below SEK 1,000,000 at the time you submit to the competition. After that, we of course welcome you to continue working with the business idea, sales and any investments.

Grattis Lana Zelic till disputationen!
Doktoranden Lana Zelic vid KI och Röda Korsets Högskola har nu disputerat med avhandlingen "Interprofessional teamwork and supervision in healthcare education and practice” som handlar om hur olika vårdprofessioner såsom läkare, sjuksköterskor, fysioterapeuter, arbetsterapeuter och andra yrkesgrupper lär sig att samarbeta effektivt, och vilken roll handledning spelar för att utveckla detta samarbete.
Handledare har varit docent Anders Sondén vid Institutionen för klinisk forskning och utbildning, Södersjukhuset, Karolinska Institutet och professor Klara Bolander Laksov vid Institutionen för pedagogik och didaktik, Stockholms universitet. Professor Veronika Lindström vid Umeå universitet och Ambulanssjukvården Region Västerbotten var opponent. I betygsnämnden ingick: professor Lena Nilsson-Wikmar, Institutionen för neurobiologi, vårdvetenskap och samhälle, Karolinska Institutet, professor Madeleine Anbrandt Dahlgren, Institutionen för hälsa, medicin och vård, Linköpings universitet och professor Italo Masiello, Institutionen för datavetenskap och datateknik, Mälardalens universitet. Ordförande var Uffe Hylin, överläkare och lektor vid KI Institutionen för klinisk forskning och utbildning, Södersjukhuset. Sommaravslutning💛📚
Nästa vecka blir det examen för vissa, andra får en paus för att komma tillbaka i höst och vissa kommer för första gången sätta sin fot på campus i september.

Nu är jag på en promenad och tänkte passa på att svara på en fråga jag fått av en av er följare ”Vad är skillnaden på socionomprogrammet med storstadsprofil från andra socionomutbildningar 🌍📚”
Socionomprogrammet på Södertörns högskola leder till samma socionomexamen som andra socionomutbildningar i Sverige. MEN med en särskild profil mot socialt arbete i storstadskontext.
Det innebär bland annat fokus på frågor som:
✨ segregation och social ojämlikhet
✨ migration
✨ social hållbarhet i urbana miljöer
Storstadsprofilen speglar de samhällsutmaningar och möjligheter som ofta finns i storstadsregioner, och utbildningen kopplar teori till praktiskt socialt arbete i den kontexten.
Andra socionomprogram kan ha en bredare eller annan inriktning, men alla leder till samma yrkesexamen 💙

Idag firas den Internationella Sjuksköterskedagen till minne av Florence Nightingale som föddes den 12 maj 1820 i Florens. Hon anses vara en av grundarna av det moderna sjuksköterskeyrket och utförde bland annat revolutionerande insatser under Krimkriget. Hon visade att man genom basala hygienrutiner såsom handtvätt, god omvårdnad samt genom att ingjuta hopp och mod i de sårade soldaterna kunde öka överlevnaden väsentligt.
